Ken's is a very solid local restaurant. Staff are all incredibly kind and prompt. Refilled beverages before we needed to ask and always had a smile. Really great atmosphere. I had the turkey dinner and my husband had the bbq chicken breasts. If you're not a dark meat fan, the turkey dinner had quite a bit of it, so keep that in mind. Chicken breasts were perfectly cooked. Good bbq sauce. Food was good for the price, and we will definitely eat here again from time to time!

This place has been open for YEARS!! I remember as a kid we would go there when we camped up the road at the Yonderhill Campground. I was pleasantly surprised to see it was still open and survived the Covid pandemic! I brought my dad here for his birthday dinner a few months ago. The service was great. The food was as expected. I would've liked more options for "fresh fish/seafood". The waitress didn't seem to know which foods were brought in frozen and which ones were brought in fresh.. so that leaves me to wonder if anything comes in there fresh. Overall, my dad loved the fish and chips dinner and it was his birthday so I'm not going to complain about anything because the day went well and the service was great!

On the way home from Quebec City, we stopped in at Ken's -- the venerable roadside restaurant in Margaret Chase Smith's hometown, Skowhegan. For under $30 (tip a tax inclusive) we had a terrific lunch of chicken salad plate and burger. Our kind server informed us the tap water was especially good since it came from the well, and she was right. The chicken salad plate was all white meat, hand pulled and lightly dressed atop a generous bowl of lettuce, carrots, cucumbers and a decent tomato (rare up here in winter). As a bonus, a good scoop of Ken's homemade coleslaw finished it off. Very satisfying and darned good. I had food envy, however, when my husband's burger appeared. No mere round sandwich, it came on a fresh, toasted sub roll with a perfectly cooked half pound patty topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion. He chose onion rings on the side which were good. Other tempting menu items included six or eight kinds of pie, a meatloaf dinner, and corn chowder. All in all, a top notch community restaurant. Bravo. And thanks!

Trying to cycle through some of the local places as best I can before I leave Skowhegan. Made a stop in here because I was craving scallops. I'm a to-go girl so I can't speak to service, interior, etc. What I can speak to is quality and quantity. I ordered the deep fried bay scallops- dinner portion. Comes with 2 sides (I got fries and a side salad) and a buttered dinner roll. I was pleasantly surprised by the portions. Some places like to give you a heap of fries with just a little scallop tossed in, but there were a lot of scallops. I actually couldn't eat them all, and I can plow through fried scallops like it's my job. The breading mostly stayed on and it was seasoned pretty well. Happy with what I ordered and would try more food in the future when/if I'm back in Skowhegan.
